About the Role

StackPath is seeking a Network Engineer who can help us scale and operate one of the fastest growing networks in the world. Ideal candidates should have experience with high-density, multi-vendor data center deployments, and are excited by the opportunity to build and operate a complex network. Members of the StackPath Network Engineering team must possess the ability to autonomously define and complete projects, automate routine tasks, manage around failure, and work across many teams for larger initiatives.

This role will report to our: Director, Network Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Datacenter/POP network design, documentation, and deployment across various geographies.
  • Research, define policy, and create tools to enhance network performance, reduce costs, and enhance security.
  • Debug network performance problems (latency, packet loss, jitter) globally and regionally.
  • Continually seek out automation opportunities and build tools to accommodate our rapid pattern of growth.
  • Participate in Network Engineering's on-call rotation.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of how CDNs work: Anycast, DNS, HTTP, TLS
  • Knowledge of data center routing and switching systems with ethernet mediums spanning 10/25/40/100 Gigabit Ethernet, plus corresponding cabling and interface types.
  • Hands-on experience with routing and load-balancer hardware or software.
  • Proficiency in a multi-vendor environment including Arista, Cisco, or Juniper.
  • Understanding of networking technologies and protocols, with emphasis on IPv6, IPv4, BGP, ISIS, ECMP, VLAN, VXLAN, ACL, LAG/LACP, LLDP, STP, and MPLS.
  • 2-3+ years of direct development and operation of a production IP network.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as a motivated self starter with highly functional time management skills.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • B.A. or B.S. in an engineering or computer-related field of study or equivalent on-the-job training.
