About the Role

We are looking for Senior Systems Engineers with experience planning and deploying distributed infrastructure using Kubernetes. As a representative of the Systems Engineering organization, you will be a good mentor for less experienced engineers and have a strong sense of project ownership.

This role will report to the Manager of Systems Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing technical requirements from stake holders that will determine which environment is the best "fit" for their application and/or deployment
  • Collaboration with technical peers in determining fault tolerance(s), holistic monitoring, and performance tuning according to stakeholder specifications
  • Defining and training "best practices" for the larger Systems Engineering team
  • Continuous assessment that the platform is adhering to cloud native security "best practices"
  • Participation with the team's on-call support rotation

Desired Skills and Experience

  • You know Linux
  • Bare-metal troubleshooting
  • Go-Lang and/or Python development for internal tools and scripts
  • Configuration Management (preferably Ansible)
  • Linux-based hypervisor implementation using open-source tools

Kubernetes Requirements

  • Quotas and resource management
  • Monitoring and alerting with Prometheus
  • Security best practices and forensic investigation
  • Experience in building latency tolerant clusters that are geographically distributed
  • Architect, implement and enforcement of Role Based Access Control (RBAC) policies

In addition, we would like for you to exhibit an affinity to one of these 2 disciplines within the Kubernetes eco-system:

Kubernetes Storage

  • Multi-Zone storage strategy, architecture, and implementation
  • Cloud vs On-Prem storage
  • Distributed block storage integration

Kubernetes Networking

  • Cluster Networking strategy and implementation
  • BPF vs IPTables
  • Experience troubleshooting Unicast, Multicast, and Anycast networks
