About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Manager for our Data Engineering team. As the leader of this team, you will drive the development of various architectures to transform raw data into useful data systems as well as take ownership of our data storage and information exchange direction. You will be responsible for mentoring the team of Engineers and Architects to ensure that the solutions are scalable and reliable to meet our growing data needs. Overall, you’ll strive for efficiency by aligning data systems with business goals across all product lines. 

To succeed in this role, you should have strong analytical skills, experience with various data storage, management and transformation technologies as well as a solid understanding of practical coding concerns.  You should also have the ability to evaluate new technologies and conduct competitive analysis while being able to make decisions and drive projects to completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engage with product leadership to identify and implement the data vision for StackPath.
  • Build and grow a team of data engineers and architects.
  • Improving data quality and efficiency.
  • Empower the team to build optimal data systems and pipelines.
  • Analyze and interpret trends and patterns related to the data.
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability.
  • Identify opportunities for data acquisition.
  • Develop ways to use our data as a strategic asset.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and architects on several projects.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data strategy, data architecture or data analytics
  • 3+ years of data engineering management experience
  • Hands-on experience with high volume Kafka based architectures and streaming frameworks (Spark, Flink, Beam)
  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques
  • Hands-on experience with programming languages (e.g.  Go, Python, TypScript)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure)
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and architectures
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and NOSQL database design
  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field; a master’s is a plus
  • Data engineering certification is a plus
